Keep her teaching going

If you grew up around Bosqueville or Crawford, there's a good chance my mother, Tammy Haug Massirer, touched your life. Maybe she was your teacher. Maybe you served beside her at First Baptist Church Crawford, or she showed up at your door with a meal.

November 4 would have been her 62nd birthday. To honor her legacy, our family is establishing the Tammy Massirer Heartland Scholarship at McLennan Community College through the McLennan Community College Foundation.

Education and agriculture run deep in her family history. The classroom and the farm shaped who she was.

The fund will prioritize Bosqueville and Crawford High School graduates pursuing degrees in Education, Child Studies, Agribusiness or Agriculture.

As the fund grows, we hope to also support local prison education and the MCC food pantry. Both causes were close to her heart from her years volunteering at First Baptist Crawford alongside dear friends like Trae Evans Kendrick and Julie Patterson.

How to give

A gift of any size helps a Bosqueville or Crawford student get to class and take their next step.

  1. Go to the MCC Foundation giving page.

  2. Under "Please use the gift for," select Existing Scholarship Fund (Please Specify Below).

  3. In the "Other / Please designate fund name" field, type Tammy Massirer Heartland Scholarship.

Mom spent her life making sure the students in front of her, including me, had what they needed to take the next step. With your tax-deductible gift, she can keep doing that for years to come.

To learn more, visit the scholarship fund page, or reach out and I'll connect you with the right folks.
